2x–2y–2=0, 4x–4y–5=0 chapter-3 ex 3.1-Q4 (iv)

 4. Which of the following pairs of linear equations are consistent/inconsistent? If consistent, obtain the solution graphically:

(iv) 2x–2y–2=0, 4x–4y–5=0

      2x-2y–2=0 ----------(1)

      4x-4y–5=0 ---------(2)

      a1/a2 = 2/4 = 1/2,  b1/b2 = -2/-4 = 1/2

      c1/c2 = -2/-5

from the above we can say

      a1/a2 = b1/b2 ≠ c1/c2

above formula belongs to parallel lines

   parallel lines are inconsistent

    Not required graphically
